This is a highly practical course run by Dr Barb Hungerford who reviews pelvic biomechanics & treatment in order to explain current concepts of pelvic stability and the mechanisms that assist load transfer through the lumbo-pelvic region. A biomechanical framework is used to introduce comprehensive assessment & treatment techniques for the pubic symphysis, sacroiliac joint, and lumbar spine articulations plus an introduction to functional Lumbo-pelvic stability

Dr Barbara Hungerford graduated in 1982 and then began working as a physiotherapist in Australia and overseas. In 2002 Barb completed a PhD that focused on altered pelvic biomechanics & muscle recruitment patterns associated with pelvic dysfunction. She has continued to research clinical tests of pelvic function, and diagnosis and treatment of SIJ insufficiency and has published multiple journal articles. Barb is the director and Principal physiotherapist at Sydney Spine and Pelvis Physiotherapy Centre and a consultant physiotherapist at North Sydney Sports Medicine Centre, St Leonards. Her special interest areas are treatment of low back and pelvic pain, treatment of pregnancy related pelvic and thoracic injuries, thoracic and rib cage dysfunctions, plus neck pain and cranial issues including headaches and TMJ pain.
