This practical 1 day course on Sunday 10 September in Sydney is based on the science of motor control retraining so I have nicknamed it “Brain Games for retraining stability”. Learn how to unwind overactive muscles in the low back, pelvis, and hips using fasial releases plus retraining postural awareness, and movement re-patterning to diminish pain. Retraining core activation patterns and gluteal muscle activation is then integrated into a progressive rehabilitation program
Dr Barbara Hungerford graduated in 1982 and then began working as a physiotherapist in Australia and overseas. In 2002 Barb completed a PhD that focused on altered pelvic biomechanics & muscle recruitment patterns associated with pelvic dysfunction. She has continued to research clinical tests of pelvic function, and diagnosis and treatment of SIJ insufficiency and has published multiple journal articles. She is presently researching new radiological methods for assessment of pubic motion and stability with Dr John Read. Barb is the director and Principal physiotherapist at Sydney Spine and Pelvis Physiotherapy Centre and a consultant physiotherapist at North Sydney Sports Medicine Centre, St Leonards. Her special interest areas are treatment of low back and pelvic pain, treatment of pregnancy related pelvic and thoracic injuries, thoracic and rib cage dysfunctions, plus neck pain and cranial issues including headaches and TMJ pain.
